Job Description
The San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild (Ag Guild) is recruiting an Executive Director (ED). The ED will be responsible for managing all Ag Guild operations, administration, programs, and strategic planning and will be the spokesperson for the organization. Other duties will include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The ED will be the public face of the Ag Guild and will foster and maintain positive relationships with community partners. The ED reports to the Ag Guild Board of Directors.

Brickworks (www.fhbrickworks.com)
Located in downtown Friday Harbor at 150 Nichols Street, Brickworks is a community gathering place and a rental venue for a variety of local food-based, educational, and cultural activities, as well as private events, Brickworks is the permanent home of the the San Juan Island Farmers Market. The ED will oversee all aspects of Brickworks management, including rentals, maintenance, and upgrades.
Island Grown in the San Juans (info@islandgrown.com) Island Grown is a branding program for agricultural products grown, caught, or harvested in San Juan County. Island Grown members adhere to standards and enjoy benefits of membership.
Specific responsibilities of the ED
In managing the Ag Guild, the ED will:
o Work closely with the board to develop and implement strategies to accomplish the Ag Guild mission
o Work closely with the board to establish and implement an annual operating plan and budget that advance the Ag Guild mission
o Provide the board of directors with regular progress reports
o Maintain strong relations with a variety of entities and organizations to collaborate on projects and programs that achieve the mission of the organization, including farmers markets on San Juan, Lopez, and Orcas islands; the San Juan County Agricultural Resources Committee; the Town of Friday Harbor; Chamber of Commerce offices on the three islands; the San Juan Islands Visitors Bureau; the ports of the three islands; the San Juan County Council; the Northwest Agriculture Business Center; and others
o Manage Ag Guild operations and administration, including the Ag Guild, Brickworks, and Island Grown websites; cloud-based files; donor files; accounting; correspondence; reporting; licensing; etc.
o Oversee Ag Guild employees and contractors working for the Ag Guild
In managing the Brickworks facility, the ED will:
o Identify needs of the facility and oversee all necessary management, maintenance, and capital improvements
o Establish and execute a marketing and sales strategy for the facility
o Ensure that Brickworks rentals are managed in a way that promotes use of the facility and the good standing of the organization
In managing the Island Grown program, the ED will:
- Identify and implement strategies to establish Island Grown as a successful branding program
- Oversee development of collateral marketing materials for Island Grown
- Develop and oversee execution of an outreach strategy for consumers, farmers, restaurants, COOPs, farmers markets, other related county groups, local and regional media, etc.
o Act as a spokesperson to promote IG through regional and local promotions and other brand-recognition activities
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of small-scale agriculture and local food systems
• 5 years of experience in general management with hands-on knowledge of program management, marketing, sales, and sales strategy
• Knowledge of financial management and use of EXCEL
• Proven track record of success in program management
• Strong leadership skills and ability to delegate
• Knowledge of website management and social media
• Passion for small-scale agriculture and local food systems
• Experience in grant writing preferred
Physical/Mental Requirements
• Weekend and evening availability
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, typing, and talking on the telephone
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the job, such as event set-up and break-down of tables, chairs, and other equipment, weighing up to approximately 30-40 lbs, with both arms and hands
• Driver’s license and ability to travel inter-island and throughout western Washington
• Compassionate, diplomatic, flexible, self-starter
Hours: 1 FTE
Starting Pay: Salary with potential bonus, commensurate with experience.

San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild Administrative Manager
Job Description
The San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild (Ag Guild) is seeking an Administrative Manager to be a key member of the Ag Guild team. The Administrative Manager will report to the Ag Guild Executive Director (ED) and will undertake the following tasks:
Financial Administration
- Assist the ED in Ag Guild financial administration
- Record and deposit all checks received twice monthly
- Pay Ag Guild bills and invoices
- Provide monthly bank statements and income/expense sheets to the Ag Guild accountant
Communications Management
- Maintain the Ag Guild, Brickworks, and Island Grown websites
- Manage social media (Facebook, Instagram) to promote the Ag Guild and Ag Guild programs
- Draft communications to Ag Guild supporters
- Maintain the Ag Guild listserve and manage communications
- Update the exterior notice board on Nichols Street
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit and maintain contacts with “Friends of Brickworks”
- Coordinate volunteer efforts relative to other Ag Guild projects and programs
- Create volunteer events around Brickworks Spring Clean-up, Winter Deep Clean, and other facility needs
Marketing
- Promote and market Brickworks, for example, through outreach to off-island businesses and by coordinating packages with hotels/restaurants offering shoulder-season specials
- Promote and market Ag Guild projects and programs
- Develop posters and other marketing materials for Ag Guild events
Brickworks Rental Management
Interface with renters from initial inquiries to end billing:
- Provide “first touch” contact with rental inquiries via email/voice mail
- Send out BW rental documents, welcome package, and other information
- Correspond with potential renters and handle questions
- Manage initial walk-throughs, inquiries, and booking schedules
- Book services needed for each event, i.e., janitor, AV, etc.
- Track payments and paperwork
- Provide monthly reports of Brickworks income and expenses to the ED
Fundraising and Donor Management
- Maintain database of Ag Guild donors
- Assist ED at fundraising activities and donor events
- Staff Ag Guild booth at farmers markets and other events
Brickworks Facility Management
- Monitor facility maintenance
- Coordinate with facility manager
- Back up facility manager in emergencies
- Order supplies
Event organization
- Organize, market, and manage events that fulfill the mission of the organization, e.g., San Juan Islands Agricultural Summit, farm tours, Taste of the San Juans, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years of experience and successful track record of program administration
- 3 years of experience and successful track record of event coordination
- Knowledge of basic accounting and use of Excel
- Knowledge of website maintenance
- Proficiency in use of social media for marketing purposes
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to multi task
